Established as Pacific Coast Canvas in 1983, the shop served both the automotive and marine communities, building a reputation with car and yacht dealers as well as individual owners seeking the best custom upholstery and canvas.
In 1992, John Monroe, an experienced bluewater sailor with over 40,000 ocean miles, purchased the business and a new dedication to design, service, and quality was established by focusing strictly on marine services.
Pacific Crest Canvas was renamed in 2009, and John found himself with the unquenchable desire to once again cruise the seas. In 2011, John found Eric McKinley to learn the trade and continue the craft. After over 150 hours of hands-on personal training on projects ranging from a Catalina 38 to a Tayana 48, John was satisfied with Eric’s ability to craft every type of custom marine covering.
With John’s blessings, Eric McKinley continues the Pacific Crest Canvas heritage of of the finest hand-crafted canvas in the Bay Area. John set sail in April 2012 for a three-year worldwide cruising trip, fully outfitted by Pacific Crest Canvas with an Offshore Dodger, a Cruiser’s Awning, and a full compliment of mesh side curtains.
Pacific Crest Canvas has grown in the last 6 years to a team of 6. Our employees have over 50 years combined experience in their fields of focus, and strive to create the finest marine canvas available.
